DALLAS – Sharing his message of giving in everything you do, TOMS Shoes founder Blake Mycoskie presented to North Dallas High School students and Dallas area designers at the “Style Your Sole” event last week. The Steelcase sponsored event encouraged Dallas area interior designers and select students to use their creativity to design their own pair of TOMS Shoes. With every pair you purchase, TOMS will give a pair of new shoes to a child in need.
“The message of TOMS Shoes is one of giving and that’s exactly what we care about at Steelcase,” says Stephanie Dagelewicz, workplace consultant for Steelcase. “Through this partnership we were able to give a pair of shoes to a child in need around the world and also help our own community by providing much needed resources for a school in need. Steelcase is proud to partner with TOMS Shoes to provide for those locally and globally.”
Prior to the event, Steelcase donated furniture to North Dallas High School, including flip-top training tables, node classroom chairs, ancillary seating and other supplies. These products will be used for events, creating a stronger parent connection to the school and more collaborative student spaces. Additionally, Dallas area designers who attended the event were asked to donate a book to the school’s library.
“The TOMS Shoes model is simple: to show how together, we can create a better tomorrow by taking compassionate action today,” says Mycoskie, founder and chief shoe giver of TOMS. “The ‘Style Your Sole’ event does just that by helping children in need across the globe but also right here in Dallas. It’s great to help high school students learn about giving and making a difference in their own community.”
More than 50 pairs of shoes were decorated and thus given to those in need. Additionally, attendees donated more than 20 books to the school’s library.
