Tradeshow season isn’t over yet. As fall approaches and we near the end of 2019, there have been a plethora of standout design products that demonstrate the positive impact of design. From ICFF in May to BDNY in November, human-centric and sustainable design products have been influencing the design industry.
At the beginning of the year, ASID announced its partnership with Emerald Expositions, the largest operator of B2B trade shows in the U.S., to bring thought-provoking new content to Emerald-operated shows and enhance participant experience.
An initiative of this partnership was the new ASID Design Impact Awards Program, which acknowledges products from show exhibitors that contribute to the health and well-being of inhabitants and/or promote sustainable design practices.
Products are judged by a panel of design luminaries on objective, design and technical innovation, market application, and sustainability/health and wellness. Particular attention is given to how products impact the user’s life and/or health, how they improve or support a sustainable and healthful environment, and their quality and originality.
Winners are announced at the tradeshow in which each product is entered, and are awarded a certificate for display throughout the show and at other Emerald shows where the product is also set to be featured.
ASID has partnered with Emerald Expo for the following tradeshows in 2019:
- Environments for Aging
- HD Expo
- Healthcare Design Expo & Conference (in November)
- BDNY (in November)
Throughout the past four tradeshows, there has been a spotlight on design that directly impacts lives, including innovative solutions for small-spaces, hygienic technology, biophilic elements, recycled and sustainable materials, and adaptable designs to accommodate aging-in-place.
The current winners of the 2019 Design Impact Awards are:
