AMD Global, LLC announced today that Louisiana’s first micro-hospital will open in Lake Charles in early October 2017. Under their Avail Health system, the state-of-the-art facility will be a fully licensed, general acute hospital designed to meet the ever-changing needs of healthcare delivery. The Avail Health hospital maintains a smaller, more efficient footprint, offering shorter wait times and a more personalized, community-tailored, concierge-level experience.
Dr. Dharmesh Patel, AMD CEO, confirmed that late last year his company broke ground on the 33,000 square-foot facility located on seven acres at their 3730 Nelson Road location, with the vision of transforming it into a healthcare cornerstone within the community.
The Avail Health hospital features a visually striking, eco-friendly blueprint with fully-equipped emergency and trauma rooms with inpatient beds and procedure rooms for cardiac, gastrointestinal and pain management. The facility will be staffed with board-certified physicians, experienced nurses and clinical specialists dedicated to providing compassionate, personalized care. The patient rooms have been designed explicitly with the individual and their families in mind by a team of end-users whose knowledge spans over three decades of continuous expertise in the healthcare and interior design industries.
Patel says this expertise lends detail to what has worked best for patients, families and healthcare providers in the past, allowing his company and its partners to come together to design an efficient, comfortable and aesthetically pleasing facility for the delivery of the highest quality care to the Lake Charles community.
“We want to create something of real significance for all the communities we serve. There is a definite need for a healthcare revitalization in Lake Charles and we hope that this hospital can truly reflect the individuality and spirit of Lake Charles while providing the innovation and high quality its citizens deserve,” Patel said. “Our intention is to attract Critical Care Specialists, Pulmonary Specialists, Cardiologists, Internal and Family Medicine, Gastroenterology, Orthopedic Surgery and Interventional Pain Specialists to be a part of our system.”
The facility will have multiple service lines to include emergency services and inpatient hospitalization. All rooms will be fully monitored and equipped with the an interactive patient care platform helping healthcare providers better engage patients and their families more personally by communicating directly on their mobile and home devices. In addition, a fully integrated electronic medical record and electronic health record system will be furnished in partnership with MedHost that will bridge the communication gap among providers, patients and their consultants. Equipment will include a 64-slice CT Scanner, digital X-Ray, portable X-Ray C-Arm, a fully equipped cardiac stress lab and procedure rooms.
The facility will also include an industrial medicine component for occupational health services, which will meet all requirements set forth by the National Safety Council and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration.
Through their Avail Health system, AMD plans on introducing several other similar facilities across the nation, concurrently.
