Cleveland Clinic’s new Neurological Institute, a $1.1 billion, 1-million-square-foot facility slated to open in 2027, will be the largest building on its main campus and a flagship center for brain, spine, and nerve care. Designed by Hopkins Architects with Stantec as architect of record, the building is intentionally built to integrate inpatient and outpatient services, research, and advanced diagnostics under one roof.
The facility will house 210 inpatient rooms, 36 neurological ICU beds, 14 operating rooms, and 120 outpatient exam rooms. In addition to surgical, imaging, and infusion services, the building will also support cutting-edge neurological research, including labs focused on brain function and the development of novel therapies.
Key architectural features focus on intuitive design and patient-centered care. The building maximizes natural light and open spaces to support ease of navigation and a calming environment. Smart technologies embedded throughout the project will gather objective data on gait, voice patterns, and cognitive function in real time that will integrate diagnostics into the flow of care. Patient movement will be guided by location-based systems to streamline experiences and improve care team interactions.
This high-tech, human-centered facility represents a new paradigm in neurological care, with the potential to pioneer neurorestorative treatments never before thought possible.
