The International Interior Design Association’s New York Chapter (IIDA NY) will host the inaugural Career Fair for architecture and design students and emerging professionals. Esteemed architecture and design firms from the greater New York City area will gather on Thursday, Feb. 29, from 5:30 to 8 p.m. at the Teknion Showroom, located at 641 6th Ave. #2, New York, NY 10011.
Leaders in architecture and design will share valuable insights and resources aimed to help participants progress in their careers. Conceived by Robin Reigi and Elisabeth Mejia, vice presidents of student development, this event will feature a portfolio review organized by IIDA NY’s Knowledge Forum, a student-led committee, offering diverse industry perspectives. Attendees will also engage in professional mock interviews hosted by IIDA NY’s Design Camp committee, a photo session for professional headshots, fireside-style forum discussions focused on career growth and networking opportunities with esteemed industry professionals.
Engage with industry leaders such as Barry Richards, principal and studio leader of Rockwell Group; Beth Ann Christiansen, principal and senior project interior designer of HOK Architects; Raul Garcia-Moncada, associate principal and design director of AECOM; Patricia Duval, senior associate, design director of IA Interiors; Lance Amato, head of customer experience of Canoa Supply; Rebecca Steiger, senior associate, creative director of TPG; Rachel Robinson, studio design principal, and Richard Bliss, studio design principal of Ted Moudis Associates; Gregory Melitonov, partner and creative director of Taller KEN; as well as EJ Lee, principal and design director, Ju Hyun Lee, senior associate and design director and Dara Osur, senior associate and recruiting manager of Gensler.
Other premier architecture and design firms will include Corgan, a distinguished architecture and design firm; EwingCole, a nationally recognized architecture, engineering, interior design, and planning firm; HKS, a globally acclaimed architecture, interior design, planning, and advisory firm; HLW, a global full-service design firm headquartered in New York City; MKDA, a comprehensive full-service design firm; Perkins&Will, a globally recognized architecture firm; Stantec, a distinguished engineering and architecture firm; Vocon, a global authority in architecture and interior design; and Ware Malcomb, a full-service international design firm.
Additionally, IIDA NY will recognize the three recipients of its third annual Hazel Siegel Scholarship, honoring the late esteemed textile designer for her 40 years of devoted service to the chapter. This commemorative ceremony will celebrate Dohee Kim from the Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT), Giuliana Grosso from the New York Institute of Technology (NYIT), and Autumn Howard from the Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT). These individuals have been granted educational and networking opportunities as part of their awards.
