Lutron VP to Speak on Lighting Health Care Facilities

Nov. 9, 2004
Paul Trively, Vice President of Specification Sales at Lutron Electronics, will address the American Institute of Architects Continental Europe’s (AIACE) annual continuing education conference scheduled for Nov. 12tol 14 in Paris. Lutron is a sponsor or the conference, which will offer attendees continuing education credits. Using the Illuminating Engineering Society of North America’s (IESNA) Lighting for Hospitals and Healthcare Facilities as a guide, Trively will examine a hospital room-by-room, illustrating how healthcare managers must acknowledge the role of lighting in three critical areas:Attracting patients: The proper use of lighting and shading creates a less sterile, more home-like appearance that welcomes children and/or entire families. Helping patients recover: Adequate and easily accessible lighting controls reduce disorientation and prevent common patient accidents.Relieving demand on hospital staff: Patient-controlled lighting alleviates medical staff and helps them focus on their primary task – caring for patients.  These driving factors are integral to determining the design standards for medical project specifiers.Trively joined Lutron in 1968.  Over the course of his 36-year career, he has designed lighting control products, applied lighting controls to a wide variety of projects and helped to expand the use of lighting control systems throughout the world. His engineering accomplishments include fluorescent dimming, modular high power dimmers and architectural lighting control systems. Currently, Trively is researching how lighting control can address today’s key business issues in the healthcare marketplace. For more information, visit Lutron’s Web site at http://www.lutron.com.
