A new Limited Too store in Winston Salem, NC, is sure to keep “tween” girls (ages 8 to 12) wide-eyed – and their parents’ wallets open. Finding France in Little Havana
Once a printing facility, the renovated Alliance Française Village, a new facility in the Little Havana district of Miami, now contains several audiovisual elements, including surround-sound audio for movie screenings and different sound and lighting options for events. A large plasma screen greets visitors in the reception area. The building also includes an energy recovery HVAC system, new and reinforced structural support systems, and new MEPS systems.

Giving a new meaning to “green” building, a plant conservation building of the Chicago Botanic Garden will greatly expand opportunities for scientists and researchers to study native plants. . The facility will feature a 10,000-square-foot green roof and will provide a viewing gallery so guests can see scientists at work.

A Not-So-Simple Site
Sokut Construction Inc. recently broke ground for a new high school in Riverside, CA, on a tricky site – to put it mildly. The $7.5 million project includes a 3,000-foot-long, 20-foot-high retaining wall to be carved out of an adjacent mountain. About 350,000 cubic yards of dirt will be removed to allow creation of a support system for the building façade.
