International Design Symposium at Indianapolis Museum of Art

Dec. 9, 2008

Officials have announced that a two-day international design symposium will be taking place on Friday and Saturday, March 6 and 7, 2009, at the Indianapolis Museum of Art (IMA).

A remarkable list of leading design experts for this event—titled Shaping the New Century: A Two-Day International Design Symposium—has been assembled. Among the speakers are designers Jurgen Bey and Jerszy Seymour, as well as Alberto Alessi, managing director of the Italian design company Alessi.

The symposium is presented concurrently with the opening of the pioneering exhibition European Design Since 1985: Shaping a New Century, running March 8, 2009, to June 21, 2009 at the IMA. This exhibition is the first critical survey of contemporary Western European decorative and industrial design, organized by IMA design curator R. Craig Miller.

More information about this symposium and the European Design exhibition, as well as online registration for the symposium, is available at www.imamuseum.org/calendar/european/designsymposium.
