New ASID CEU Course Announced

Dec. 2, 2008

CASTELLÓN, SPAIN - ASCER, the Ceramic Tile Association of Spain, recently announced the approval of a one day course, "Design Expertise with Ceramic Tile," by the Interior Design Continuing Education Council (IDCEC). Submitted by Tile of Spain Consultant Patti Fasan, this approval allows all IDCEC's core organizations, ASID, IDC, IDEC, and IIDA to offer continuing education credits to accredited members upon completion of the course.

The course is registered with the NCIDQ Registry Service as ASID course No. 1301 and carries 0.5 CEU with a general designation.

As part of their ongoing Education Program, Tile of Spain is proud to sponsor the first presentation of the course on May 21st 2009 for the Washington-Metro Chapter of the ASID from 9:30am-5:00pm. The CEU will take place at the Residence Inn by Marriott/Capitol, in Washington, D.C.  Additional dates and venues are being programmed by ASID.

"Ms. Fasan is sure to engage classes with a quality program that will enlighten and educate design professionals who are enthusiastic about the diversity of ceramic tile," notes David Portales, foreign trade and export promotion director of ASCER.

The following brief describes the learning objectives and topics to be covered by "Design Expertise with Ceramic Tile":

Material choice for floor and wall coverings has undergone a dramatic shift in preference in the last decade. Hard surface applications have seen double digit growth with Ceramic tile being one of the fastest growing sectors. Creating healthy, livable, productive and more sustainable interiors is spurring a wealth of innovative design solutions featuring this age-old building material.

This course takes the design professional through the evolution and revolution of ceramic tile technology. Specific attention is focused in each session by anticipating how the acquired information impacts or can be utilized in the design process. Participants will learn the right questions to ask and obtain the pertinent truths necessary to quantify the best design options for a variety of environments and applications.

A visually stimulating program combined with reference tile samples, as well as relevant handouts and calculation formulas for design libraries and future reference, puts the necessary tools, information and inspiration in each participant's hands in order to maximize their experience and expertise with ceramic tile design projects.

In addition to the IDCEC organizations arranging for CEU programs, Tile of Spain is offering this course to any interested organizations and/or companies. They can be scheduled through the Tile of Spain Center in Miami by calling (305) 446-4387.
