Be Original Americas has been chosen by IIDA NY to be the recipient of the proceeds from this year’s 7th annual Sustainable Quilt Auction, held in New York on March 25. Local design firms will join together to create unique one of a kind quilts made from discarded materials and fabrics from the industry.
“The IIDA NY chapter’s generous support of authenticity will be put to good use," said Antoine Roset, newly elected president of Be Original Americas and executive vice president of Roset USA Corporation. "Be Original Americas is excited to be honored in this way and looks forward to utilizing the funds to invest in a CEU accreditation for AIA and IDCEC for the future of design innovation."
The quilts will be auctioned off to guests throughout the night. Proceeds will be donated to Be Original Americas to support the organization’s efforts to educate and inform professionals, consumers, educators, and the media on the moral, environmental, and economic value of purchasing and specifying authentic design. Tickets can be purchased here.
“We believe in Be Original Americas’ manifesto and the work the organization is doing to support authenticity, creativity, and original design," Rebecca Dorris Steiger, president of the IIDA NY Chapter. "This effort is in line with the work we do at our monthly Quilting Bees, where designers work in teams to create original works of art using repurposed industry textiles.”
