Hightower's original Gimbal Rocker Lounge was created with a gimbal mechanism that allows for a rocking motion to aid users in releasing energy while sitting for long periods of time. In 2022, Hightower Studio expanded the line as the global pandemic led to a shift in the seating preferences of many users, who opted for residential products influenced by working from home, launching Gimbal Jr., an extension that welcomed the human form through comfort and movement. The line incorporated flexibility and movement that adjusted to the market's needs, embracing functionality.
Now it’s Gimbal Swivel that is meeting the needs of the market with flexibility and movement with configuration options for privacy. “We are always listening to our clients, and we heard the request for a true swivel version of our existing Gimbal Lounge," explained Natalie Hartkopf, CEO of Hightower. The swivel feature allows workers the option to reposition from a seated to a stand-up position throughout their workday. Gimbal Swivel offers a full range of motion and can be configured in different backings and degrees of rotation. The line extension, Gimbal Highback Swivel (shown), and Gimbal Lowback Swivel are available in a 90° w/ auto-return or 360° with no auto-return.
