i+s Editor Lauren Brant's Product Pick of the Week: Grothouse's Live Edge
Grothouse's Live Edge wood surfaces are sourced locally from trees removed due to old age or fall downs. The edge is not sawn, the natural shape of the tree remains, and the bark is carefully removed to ensure the natural curves of the original tree are left intact. The unique and larger-than-market slabs are cured for at least 3-5 years to prevent warping and cracking. They are suitable for traditional, transitional or contemporary design. Pieces are customized to fit the space, are coated with Grothouse’s exclusive Durata waterproof finish and come in numerous species, including Cherry, Bubinga, Walnut, Maple, White Oak and others, depending on market availability.
