The Cabana Lounge is a light-scale sofa for the temporary moments at work—a quick (or lingering) spot to collaborate or focus without distraction, altering the perception that an open floorplan is not conducive to a range of workstyles. The lounge includes thoughtfully integrated worksurfaces, embedded power and visual privacy. Its organic shapes use wood mixed with a carefully selected palette of textiles.
Designed by Christian Haas, Enki is crafted from solid oak, featuring four organic shapes with softened edges, drawing inspiration from natural archetypal forms. Perfect for coat hooks and wall displays, they’re available in sets of four complementary shapes or pairs/threes of matching silhouettes. Enki's designs join Davis Furniture's Elements collection of accessories. Available in a range of their oak finishes and Elements' painted shades.
The Inceptiv Collection of architectural wood wallcoverings features intricate designs crafted and assembled into panels of fluid texture. These complex patterns of signature Duchateau wood visuals bring unique depth to any space. Crafted in Mexico by dedicated artisans and offered in a variety of colors, Inceptiv comes pre-mounted to backing panels for ease of installation.
The Sparkler outdoor lamp is inspired by designer Kensaku Oshiro’s childhood memories of Japanese hand-held fireworks, rice paper lamps and traditional wineskins associated with Mediterranean gardens. The statuesque, yet versatile lanterns are weatherproof, portable and multifunctional, creating different lighting effects both day and night. Under the sun, they produce ever-changing chiaroscuro effects, and in the dark, the Sparkler illuminates with warm, intimate light, casting hypnotic shadows.
Cersaie’s 40th Anniversary
We were live from Bologna, Italy last month as we covered Cersaie’s 40th edition of their international exhibition of Ceramic Tile and Bathroom Furnishings. Check out the full photo gallery at iands.design (https://tinyurl.com/4zvaw4f2), but in the meantime, here’s a glimpse of a few of Chief Content Director Robert Nieminen’s favorite’s from the show floor.
The Caleido porcelain stoneware support tile collection features a game of overlapping color, inspired by the wonder we all felt as a child looking into a kaleidoscope. The line is entirely handpainted and alternates between glossy glaze and a matte glaze. It’s sized at 20 cm x 20 cm, with a base tone of ivory and four color stories each inspired by the elements: fire, earth, water and air.
Wonderwall takes wallpaper patterns and reimagines them into ultra-thin (3.5 mm), laminated large-format slabs of Kerlite—a 100% carbon neutral porcelain stoneware. The line is made of 21 designs that are resistant to humidity and offer up a 10 year guarantee. It can go be applied to both floor and wall. Pictured here is Golden Leaf.
Ceramica Del Conca
Ceramica Del Conca introduces the Marble Edition collection produced with Dinamika technology which offers perfect, matching 3D effect that is easy to clean. It’s comprised of a range of four stone surfaces of Van Gogh White, Breccia Capraia, Invisible Grey, and Onice Verde. Featured here is Van Gogh White marble that has a white background traversed by a light pattern in shades of gray and small orange horizontal veins that emerge during sandblasting, the Waterjet surface process and patination to make the product softer to the touch.
Cera is inspired by the look and feel of melted wax, the plasticity of the material recreated by Refin designers by elaborating a graphic design with great depth where small cracks, cavities and traces dance lightly across the background, alternating between light and dark areas over the ceramic tiles. The unique surface was eventually dubbed Cerasilk. The line is available in three sizes: 60 cm x 120 cm; 120 cm x 120 cm for floor and wall; 6 cm x 24 cm brick format for wall.
Teknion's Smooth Felt Hoodie Screen, inspired by the comfort of a hoodie, creates a cozy enclave around the desk, easily attaching to the back and lateral edge on both sides. Crafted from PET felt, it reduces noise and adds a touch of color to any workspace, blending in seamlessly. Screen depth is 18 in. W with a ½ in. wire gap on the back edge. Overall height is 65 in. (36 in. above the worksurface).
The Togo chair is celebrating its 50th anniversary with two special edition launches: Atom (pictured) and Toile du Peintre. Designed by Michel Ducaroy, it was launched the same year as the Ligne Roset brand. In 2007 a mini version was launched for the 4-12 age group. Inspired by fragments of pointillist landscapes in expressionist paintings, Atom is a bouclé fabric from Kvadrat in colors birch, labradorite and confetti, imagined by fashion designer Raf Simons.
Zen is just one pattern in the new Frequency Collection of four retro tile designs, all adapted from Wilder’s “Shadow Wildling” series of large-format silk screen art works. The line also introduces four new colors to the company’s palette with Nimbus, Wave, Brick and Camel. Zen uses negative space to create the optical illusion of an undulating weave pattern.
Sherwin-Williams has introduced its 2024 Color of the Year, Upward SW 6239, a breezy and blissful shade of blue that evokes the ever-present sense of peace found when slowing down, taking a breath and allowing the mind to clear. It’s part of Palette No. 1 in their Colormix Forecast 2024, Anthology: Volume One. Pair it with other blues and greens, deeps and darks and delicate tints like Snowbound SW 7004, Drift of Mist SW 9166, Gale Force SW 7605, Tricorn Black SW 6528, Honeydew SW 6428, Palm Leaf SW 7735 and Antiquarian Brown SW 0045.
Max is fun and cushy, generous in size, style and comfort for little bodies with big personalities. Upholster it in fabric or leather. It features No-Sag springs and a molded foam padding over a frame that can happily withstand the demands of high-traffic interiors. The thicker legs in particular give the seat its boisterous character, coming standard with plastic glides.
There are two new fixture styles added to the AER-DEC Integrated Sink: Clark Street and Rush Street fixtures (pictured here). A soap dispenser, faucet, hand dryer and sink all work together as one touch-free, hygienic and highly efficient system that reduces the risk of slip and fall from water on the restroom floor. The Rush Street edition is inspired by industrial, rounded forms, available in five finishes.
The Playtime collection is comprised of nine high-performance upholsteries named after some of our favorite childhood pastimes like Doodle, Confetti and Arcade, pictured here. It’s an abstract made up of sporadic, multi-colored dashes. Made with 81% recycled polyester, it’s bleach-cleanable and passes 200,000+ double rubs, as does Doodle while Confetti passes one million.
