CG_1 Table by Coalesse

April 23, 2012
I’m CG_1, designed by Cory Grosser for Coalesse, and I am available with both painted aluminum and wood frames, so any combination is an option.

Who are you?
I’m CG_1, designed by Cory Grosser for Coalesse.

Aside from sugar and spice and everything nice, what else are you made of?
I am available with both painted aluminum and wood frames, so any combination is an option: wood and glass, aluminum and wood, even wood, glass and solid surface—you name it! Whatever the application, I’m your girl.

What one word best describes you?
Versatile. Because I offer endless surface and color combinations, I can be dressed up or down to work in any environment. My signature is my alluring legs. Where table legs are usually an ignored surface, my inner leg and foot are my highlights—you can add a third material or color to extend a motif. Few tables of such simple grace offer so many possibilities of interpretation (if I do say so myself).

What is the inspiration for your design?
My design was inspired by Coco Chanel’s Little Black Dress (“LBD”), which has become the most basic staple of fashion because it is long-lasting, affordable and versatile. My nickname is Little Black Table (“LBT”), because I was intended to do for interiors what the LBD did for fashion.

How do you lessen your environmental impact?
I am made using recycled content, including aluminum. My glass, veneer and aluminum are all recyclable and are easy to separate from each other. I also qualify for BIFMA level 1 Silver and am SCS Indoor Air Quality certified.

In what type of interior environment do you make the greatest impact?
I believe I’d make the greatest impact in a lounge or reception area, because people want to make a great first impression with their guests, and I can help with that.

What would be your dream job?
I would love to have a prominent place in Nike President and CEO Mark Parker’s office. Nike and I have a lot in common with our love for fashion, style and creativity. To be working and surrounded by the creative minds at Apple would be thrilling and inspiring as well. My distinctive look would fit perfectly into Apple’s aesthetic: simple, clean lines and one-of-a-kind design.
