Ongo by Neutral Posture

Nov. 21, 2013
I'm Ongo, a new work stool from Neutral Posture designed to to provide a healthy and comfortable way to sit while working. Learn my full story inside.

Where are you from?
I am from Stuttgart, Germany, an often overlooked center of design innovation.

Who in your family do you most resemble?
I'm fairly unique in my family, in that I don't really resemble any of my task chair siblings or parents. Of course, we were all raised under the same roof, so we share a similar philosophy: to provide a healthy and comfortable way to sit while working.

Aside from sugar and spice and everything nice, what else are you made of?
High-quality recyclable plastics and outstanding craftsmanship. Just look at the detail that went into the roller track in my base. By adding marbles, the track provides an elegant and simple way to provide users with audible feedback so they know when they are moving properly.

What are your biggest turn-ons?
When you swivel your hips just right.

Turn-offs?
Sitting still. I just always have to be on the move, much to the chagrin of my less active officemates.

If you were stranded on a deserted island, and could only have three things, what would they be?
One would be spare marbles, in case I lose any of the three that come in my track. The second would be my good friend Spalding to keep me company, and third would be a solar-powered, GPS-enabled satellite phone. That's just common sense.

What inspires you?
Movement and the fluid way the human body moves, creating graceful lines and rhythm. Getting people moving is the reason for my being. If we don't move, we lose muscle tone, our posture deteriorates, and we tend to lose spirit and motivation.

What would be your dream job?
To tour with the Bolshoi Ballet. With my elegant lines and refined movement, I would be a perfect fit.
