This fall, BuzziSpace will expand its production and operations in the United States with the renovation of a 100-year-old former cotton mill located at 1200 Redding Drive, High Point, North Carolina. Founded in Antwerp, Belgium in 2007, the acoustic furnishings company selected the building to be its local headquarters due to its potential impact for social and environmental sustainability.
The company aims to assemble 90 percent of the products sold in the U.S. in the facility, leading to the reduction of carbon footprint for U.S. sales. BuzziSpace will employ more than 100 people over the next five years—most in new jobs. Positions will range from cut and sew/upholstery operations, to finance, customer service and marketing. The building—last used seven years ago—will reopen this fall with the goal of seeing its products roll off the manufacturing line in late 2014.
“The offices will be a reflection of who we are, what we stand for,” said Tom Van Dessel, coowner, BuzziSpace. “We feel strongly about creating a destination and a place that the locals will take pride in. In this place, we can make a real difference in the community by investing in its rich history in furniture, and its skilled labor.”
The young brand has made a name for itself outfitting major social media and technology companies and all offices that seek creative solutions for open floor plan layouts. With furnishings designed specifically for the modern workplace, BuzziSpace products create microenvironments that allow for collaboration or zones of deep concentration.
Earlier this year, it was announced that BuzziSpace acquired Mutrox, a European-based industry leader in the construction and installation of soundproof studios and home theaters. These synergies will create BuzziSpace Acoustics, a group dedicated to the creation of technically-advanced products and solutions.
