Source Outdoor, a leading manufacturer of outdoor furniture, awnings, and railings for the hospitality and residential markets, has seen exponential growth over the last five years, expanding from a four-person business working in a 12,000-square-foot warehouse, to currently employing over 160 people and moving into a new 100,000-square-foot facility and corporate headquarters this month. The new facility includes a product showroom, large corporate offices, and designated spaces for upholstery and aluminum production.
“Though we’ve only moved around the corner to a new building, we’re excited for the new, larger space and everything it will help us achieve as a company,” said Gerald Shvartsman, CEO of Source Outdoor. “After seeing how fast we’ve grown over the last five years, I look forward to the next five, which will be defined by producing more American-made pieces and custom one-stop-shop outdoor solutions.”
Source Outdoor was founded in 2009 when Shvartsman noticed a gap in the market while looking to furnish his own patio with affordable, well-designed pieces. The company has since collaborated with world-class hotel brands including Hyatt Hotels and Resorts, Hilton Hotels and Resorts, Marriott Hotels, W Hotels & Resorts, and Trump International Beach Resort. Source Outdoor has also worked with national restaurant chains such as The Cheesecake Factory, P.F. Chang’s, and Applebee’s to create custom seating, lounging and dining furniture.
Since its founding just five years ago, the company has increased its revenue from $1.8 million in 2009, to $17 million in 2013, with an anticipated revenue of $25 million for 2014. In addition to an increase in revenue, warehouse space, and employees, this accelerated growth has translated into an expansion of Source Outdoor’s product offering. In 2013, the company launched an awnings division, followed by a railings division in the summer of 2014, which includes railings, fences, and gates, capitalizing on their established manufacturing and craftsmanship capabilities to become a one-stop shop for outdoor needs.
Shvartsman is committed to moving overseas manufacturing to their facility in Miami, Fla. Currently, approximately 65 percent of their products are made in America, a number projected to increase in the coming year as local production provides a competitive edge for higher quality control, shorter order-to-ship time frames and a hiring increase among the local community.
