FLOS, the Italian lighting manufacturer, has announced their first-ever holiday card contest for first year students in the MFA Products of Design Program at the School of Visual Arts. Students, led by the program’s Chair and Co-founder, Allan Chochinov, designed and produced one-of-a-kind holiday cards, incorporating ideas around light, dreams, and personal space.
The contest came about following a successful discussion with students at SVA led by FLOS’ latest design-collaborator Michael Anastassiades and a continued relationship with Chochinov. Many creative ideas were submitted including cards with textures, cutouts and even small battery-powered lights. The winning card, designed by Eden Lew, combined silhouettes of both new and classic FLOS designs into the shape “2015.” Lew’s cards were mass-produced and shared with FLOS dealers, vendors and press around North America. She and two runner ups also received FLOS lamps. Each entry was shared on the FLOS social media channels to promote the students’ work.
