Where did you grow up?

I grew up in Linköping, a city in southern Sweden. My parents were programming students at Linköping University. I don’t like to brag, but they’re technology geniuses.

What was your first big break?

If we’re talking in North America, then that would be with Haworth. It was 2006, and I had arrived in the States only months before. Haworth saw my potential. And we won a Best of NeoCon award together!

What’s the rumor mill churning out about you these days?

I kind of “get around,” and a lot of people say that I’m “fast and easy.” You see, thousands of dealers and designers around the world use me (my software, silly!). It’s because I simplify space planning.

Where was the last place the paparazzi photographed you?

Gosh—probably at NeoCon in Chicago. Also, every year I throw a party for my users. This October, we’re celebrating my 9th annual conference in Grand Rapids, Michigan! Come party with us!

Aside from sugar, spice, and everything nice, what else are you made of?

Some wicked-fast software code. I mean, it’s in my DNA. My parents call it “Configura Magic.” And the only way I can explain it is … well, you’ve got to ask my parents. Seriously, ask my parents.

If you could get one plastic surgery procedure what would it be?

Are you kidding me?! I’ve been getting “nips and tucks” all my life! Any bit of unnecessary code gets nixed.

Who are some of your idols and influencers?

I'd say Java. Oh, and MacPaint—Dad was really inspired by MacPaint—how easy and intuitive good old MP was to use. He wanted me to be just like that.

What’s your biggest turn-on?

When people use me to my full potential. I mean, I can do it all. I can design in 2D and 3D, specify an enormous array of products, render with amazing photorealism, make fly-thru videos, create virtual reality experiences, and pump out bills of materials and installation documents.

Turn-off?

Those who say they don’t want to change. You know what the only constant in life is? Change. So get with the program—CET Designer, that is! You’ll be a lot happier.

Who’s your current bestie?

In the past year, it’s been Herman Miller, Kimball, OFS Brands, Group Dekko and Chief—manufacturers that recently have invested in me.

Who would you like to work with next?

I may get around, but I don’t kiss and tell.

What’s the worst part about fame?

There is no worst part! With me, designers will save huge amounts of time, reduce errors to practically nothing and make their
customers really happy.
