DuPont™ Corian® has opened its first pop up design studio in Toronto, Canada in the Toronto Design Exchange, running now until Dec. 15.
Local firm Mason Studio created a designers’ playground through Corian®. The studio space was inspired by a child’s world and experiences children gain through play – where everything is big and nothing is impossible.
“The experience we created brings to life all the possibilities of working with Corian®,” said Nancy Wiskel, Canadian commercial segment manager, DuPont Surfaces. “Even designers who work with Corian® regularly will learn something new and have fun while doing it.”
“As children, we are limited only by our willingness to explore. This space was designed with discovery and playfulness in mind to appeal to architects’ and designers’ sense of wonder,” said Stanley Sun of Mason Studio.
In an adult-scaled environment of building blocks, surfaces and seating, visitors will explore all the colours, shapes and textures Corian® affords designers. Guests also will discover the vast range of fabrication techniques – illumination, thermoforming, etching, wireless phone charging and more – that allow virtually any shape, form or function to be created by this versatile design material. Visitors will even have the chance to create their own Corian® colour.
The complete colour palettes of Corian® and Zodiaq® also will be showcased, including the newest colours and those developed using patented Corian® DeepColor™ Technology, which delivers greater depth, improves ease of fabrication and installation and reduces the scratch appearance by up-to 50 percent. The studio also will play host to CEUs on colour trends and technology and healthcare in November and December.
