As indoor commercial spaces evolve by bringing more of the outside in, having a fabric that can stand up to the effects of natural elements is essential.

“Interior spaces today are designed with a lot of natural light,” said Catherine Minervini, architect and design regional manager with Sunbrella Contract. “So, designers have to think about what they would use outside to stand up to the elements and translate that indoors. We have the technology to stand up to natural light in an interior space.”

Sunbrella Contract is known for performance fabrics that are designed for indoor use and engineered to withstand outdoor elements. Sunbrella Contract fabrics are high performing because of their built-in:

  • Durability
  • Stain resistance
  • UV and fade resistance
  • Bleach cleanability
  • Easy care
  • Mold and mildew resistance

With the changing needs of interior spaces and Sunbrella Contract fabrics’ performance qualities, the brand can seamlessly transition between indoor and outdoor use.

Sunbrella Contract is focused on bringing fabric solutions for indoor applications to these commercial environments:

  • Workplace
  • Healthcare
  • Education
  • Public spaces
  • Hospitality
  • Retail

Fiber is the Foundation of Fabric

Fiber is the foundation of fabric. Creating and offering quality performance fabrics is important to Sunbrella Contract. All Sunbrella Contract fabrics are created with 100% solution-dyed fibers made of proprietary ingredients that are inherent to the fiber, making them fade- and stain-resistant.

“What makes our fabrics unique is that they start at the fiber level,” Minervini said. “The fiber is saturated to the core with color and highly stable UV pigments, which prevents fading and everyday wear and tear.”

Design Connections 2.0 attendees have a chance to speak with representatives from Sunbrella Contract and get a closer look at the construction and application of its fabrics. Minervini says that attendees can expect a deeper dive into Sunbrella Contract fabrics, what sets them apart and how Sunbrella Contract can help bring designers’ visions to life.

She also encourages attendees to come ready to discuss projects they are working on with Sunbrella Contract representatives.

“We want designers to come to us to help find the best solutions for their commercial projects,” Minervini said. “They can look to us as experts when it comes to textile design, construction and performance.”
