NEW YORK -- Reclaim NYC's inaugural event in December was a reminder of the design community's strength. In the spirit of continuing the feeling of teamwork and community generated by the show, Reclaim NYC is calling upon designers to pair up and create works inspired by the idea of collaboration for a second event to be held during NYC Design Week (May 18-21). Participants are encouraged to work with partners outside of their own firms or disciplines to address the idea of coming together in times of need. Chosen pieces will be exhibited and sold at Reclaim x2. Proceeds will again go to charity for local hurricane relief.
In December 2012, a mere month after superstorm Sandy devastated the tri-state area, the New York City design community pulled together to raise more than $15K for those affected by the storm. Some of New York City's most talented designers contributed one-of-a-kind works to a night that was a joyful celebration of community, generosity and great design. Through the success of Reclaim NYC, as well as the ongoing recovery efforts that will continue for many years to come, many saw firsthand the power that community and collaboration can behold. In this spirit, Reclaim NYC is issuing the call for entries for Reclaim x2.
Material selection and themes can go beyond reclaimed materials, and designers are encouraged to feel uninhibited in their submissions. The goal is to continue the charitable spirit of Reclaim NYC while celebrating creative and collaborative design at its best.
Please submit design concepts, renderings and photography for consideration to [email protected].
Submission deadline: February 11, 2013. Selected designers will be notified by February 15, 2013.
