As an editor, I can say with certainty that it takes a (rather large) leap of faith to let go of the reins and give someone else creative control. But that’s exactly what we did for this July issue, and it has been an amazing experience to step out into the unknown and find solid footing.
For the first time ever, Interiors & Sources is publishing an issue with guest editors and devoting the content entirely to fashion. (If you’re keeping count, that’s two firsts). But as they say, reward doesn’t come without risks, and we hope you agree with us that our guest editors at Miami-based architecture and design firm Arquitectonica have done an incredible job producing this very special issue—one that we believe will be a keepsake for some time to come.
To say that Laurinda Spear is a talented visionary, or that her daughter and business partner, Marisa Fort, is as passionate about design as they come, is an understatement. This mother-daughter duo—whom we profiled in our May 2012 issue—have lent their creativity, talent and resources to producing an outstanding issue that features equally gifted and thought-provoking leaders who explore the many interesting and often unexpected intersections of the architecture and fashion worlds, all set against the backdrop of Miami.
Letting go isn’t always easy, but it’s incredibly rewarding to take that step and open your eyes to discover that the view is breathtaking.
