Pratt Year-End Shows Celebrate the Next Generation of Art and Design Leaders
Pratt Institute is currently presenting its annual showcase of curated year-end exhibitions, taking place through May 24, displaying the work of the 2017 graduating class. Pratt shows include fine art installations, film screenings, readings, and trade shows, illustrating Pratt’s collaborative, interdisciplinary approach. They take place at Pratt’s Brooklyn and Manhattan campuses and at locations throughout Brooklyn, including The Boiler, BAM Rose Cinemas, and Alamo Drafthouse Cinema; as well as Manhattan, including Spring Studios, Pablo’s Birthday Gallery, and more.

• Design — An exhibition of work by exceptional seniors and postgraduates that provides an opportunity to see a diverse range of what’s next in: advertising, architecture, communications design, fashion design, graphic design, illustration, industrial design, interior design, interactive design, jewelry design, and package design. • Fashion — Pratt’s annual showcase of work by the Department of Fashion, featuring the class of 2017. This year’s event honors Laura Kim and Fernando Garcia of Oscar de la Renta and Monse. • Pratt at WantedDesign Manhattan — Caesarstone, a leader in surface design and production, brings the Future Kitchen exhibition to life with the help of Pratt Industrial Design students at WantedDesign. On view May 20-23. WantedDesign Manhattan, 269 11th Avenue, New York, N.Y.
• Best of Department of Digital Arts 2017 — Film festival featuring juried senior project and thesis animation work of students in the Department of Digital Arts. Scheduled for May 1, 6–9 p.m. (doors open at 5:30 p.m.) Alamo Drafthouse Cinema, 445 Albee Square W#4, Brooklyn, N.Y.
• Film/Video Senior Showcase — A presentation of senior thesis films produced by Film/Video BFA students. The three screenings are curated by a jury of film professionals and artists. • The MFA in Writing Graduate Thesis Reading — Pratt’s MFA in Writing graduates will present their work on Thursday, May 11, 5:30 p.m. Higgins Hall Auditorium, Pratt Brooklyn Campus, 200 Willoughby Avenue, Brooklyn, N.Y.
• The Era of Good Feelings — Graduating seniors in the Department of Photography collaborate with Christina Labey, publications director at Conveyor Editions, presenting a vision of photography that is diverse in its approach to subject, style, and materials.
