Radical Innovation--a platform promoting disruptive, industry-changing ideas within the hotel space--has extended its submission deadline to May 1.
Radical Innovation welcomes big ideas for the guest experience—from inside and outside of hospitality, from any country, and from professionals and students alike. The grand prize is $10,000 for professionals, while the runner up receives $5,000. The student prize is $1,500 with the offer of a graduate scholarship in the Masters of Architecture program at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. The jury of esteemed hospitality trade insiders will judge concepts on creativity and design, as well as potential impact on the industry.
Criteria is simple: show them what the hotel environment can be. Wow them with creativity and feasibility. Finalists are selected by a jury and flown to New York City to compete on the Radical Innovation stage. There, finalists present to an audience of hotel developers, owners, executives, and designers who vote for the grand prize winner.
Since being founded in 2006, Radical Innovation has awarded more than $150,000 to creative thinkers with visionary ideas in hotel design and operations. Past winners have included Driftscape, a drone-hotel concept designed by architecture and design firm HOK; Koi, a bridge hotel concept designed by MM Architects in Paris; and ZOKU, a concept that blends co-work spaces with the hotel. ZOKU opened its
first property in Amsterdam in 2016.
