Successful Swings: 20th Golf Outing Raises nearly $500K

July 11, 2018

TPG Architecture Founding Principal Jim Phillips hosted this year’s Golf For Hunger & Pool Party event, a charity outing for St. Francis Food Pantries and Shelters in New York.

This past June, TPG Architectur

e participated in the 20th iteration of the Golf for Hunger & Pool Party event, a fundraiser event put on by St. Francis Food Pantries and Shelters. Held at the Bonnie Briar Country Club in Larchmont, NY, the charity event is put on for the admirable cause of raising funds for anyone in need of essential necessities such as shelter, food, and clothing. This year’s fundraiser was able to reach nearly $500,000 in donations – an incredible contribution that will allow St. Francis to serve over 40,000 hot meals to those in need.

A Hole in One for TPG Architecture

TPG’s very own founding principal, Jim Phillips, AIA, had the honor of hosting the outing, which he’s been doing since 2007. Event festivities included a pool party, a barbeque lunch, open bar and dinner, and golf on two courses. Over 300 golfers showed up and played during what has been St. Francis’ most successful golf event to date.

The St. Francis Food Pantries & Shelters is a network of food and service programs for the poor that provide a wide range of services to feed, clothe, counsel, and alleviate physical and emotional hunger in a dignified and supportive manner. There are more than 40 non-profit food pantries, soup kitchens, safe havens, drop-in centers and shelters supported by St. Francis Food Pantries & Shelters throughout Manhattan, Brooklyn, Bronx, Long Island, Westchester and New Jersey. Each location designed their "pantry" with programs to best serve their locations. Currently, the St. Francis Food Pantries & Shelters serve over 1.2 million meals each year.
