Conferencing Equipment in Iraq

Aug. 30, 2004
Media Vision USA is offering Interkom’s digitally-controlled iCL conference and interpretation system to the Iraqi Interim Government Council located in Baghdad, and the Puerto Rico Senate House located in San Juan.Assuming authority in Baghdad on June 30, 2004, the Iraqi Interim Government has begun restoring full sovereignty to the Iraqi people through the implementation of democratic processes such as elections, voting, lobbying and advocacy. The Interkom iCL conference system will assist the Iraqi Interim Government Council as they begin this challenging process of setting up democratic systems in a nation with limited self-governing experience.Interkom’s iCL system will contribute to this process by facilitating communications and decision making between Council members during important high-level policy meetings, while dictating high quality standards and solutions, ease of use and cost-effectiveness to Iraqi government officials and the greater civil society. Delivered to the Iraqi Interim Government Council in December 2003, the Interkom iCL conference system included 16 delegate stations with voice activation features each equipped with the long 445mm gooseneck microphone, and including the unique light ring indicating the on/off status. In March 2004, the Iraqi Interim Council requested an additional 14 delegate stations to add onto their conference tables, bringing their current total of operational conference stations to 30. Given the iCL single daisy chain cable solution, expansion of the system was simple and efficient, and required no setup or complicated programming efforts. The iCL conference System was also installed for 43 seats in the Puerto Rico Senate House in San Juan (see photo) by the Rio Piedras-based Professional Communications, Incorporated. Puerto Rican senate members now have clear audio via two built-in loudspeakers integrated in every iCL delegate station along with a voice activation microphone. The iCL conference system is a single daisy chain cable system, and can be installed very quickly. Various speaking modes include request to speak, voice activation, push to talk and auto mode. The system includes the iCL-P president station, iCL-D delegate stations, and the iCP-2000 power supply. There are XLR input and output in the power supply, in addition to tape output. The system can also easily expand up to 2000 delegate terminals. In addition to the supplementary programming functions already available on the delegate stations, the president station also controls a time management function, enabling even more efficient conference management. The digitally controlled iCL Conference System, as an Interkom or OEM product, dominates today’s global market of economical and quality-conscious users.Based in San Francisco, California, Media Vision USA is a provider of conferencing, voting, simultaneous interpretation, transmission and wireless technologies to the audio-visual industry.
