www.designweave.comENVIRONMENTAL MISSION STATEMENT: A leading manufacturer in sustainable products and processes, Designweave is committed to constantly re-evaluating, improving and remaining innovative with its production. A tangible example of that commitment: EcoWorx®—the industry's first 100 percent non-PVC, sustainable backing system. Made with an environmentally friendlier thermoplastic compound, it's completely recyclable into more EcoWorx® backing. Designweave's yarn system, Eco Solution Q® from Shaw Fibers, contains a minimum of 25 percent recycled content and it is fully recyclable back into carpet fiber through depolymerization. Eco Solution Q® recycled fiber and EcoWorx® incorporate cradle-to-cradle design principles and meet MBDC protocol for safe and healthy materials designed for infinite life-cycles. Additionally, Designweave's broadloom backing options include environmentally friendly BioCelTM backing. BioCelTM utilizes a renewable resource—soybean oil—with Celceram®, a highly-refined form of mineral lignite. With the addition of a 100 percent post-consumer recycled secondary backing, BioCelTM is 55 percent to 65 percent green by weight.  The state of California has recognized Designweave as an environmentally friendly manufacturer. It is the first carpet dyer in California to use recycled water. By using innovative water recycling processes, its facility saves nearly 122 million gallons of drinking water annually. And, Designweave's California plants recently received the distinction of the being a Waste Reduction Award Program (WRAP) winner. Awarded by California's Integrated Waste Management Board (CIWMB), Designweave's plants have been recognized for outstanding efforts to reduce non-hazardous waste and send less material to landfills. Through the establishment of an Environmental Management System (EMS), Designweave strives to continually improve operations and set progressive environmental goals that aim to minimize the impact on the environment.NEOCON CONTACT: Steve DeCarlo, divisional vice presidentCORPORATE CONTACT: Melissa Hill, director of brand management Forbo Linoleum Inc.

[email protected]www.idce.orgENVIRONMENTAL MISSION STATEMENT: The International Design Center for the Environment (IDCE) was founded to advance a sustainable future through education, technology and training on sustainable product design and use. This is an area of great importance to address as building activities cause 55 percent of all environmental impacts with products used in fit-out and operations resulting in most of this degradation. Life- cycle assessment (LCA) is clearly the future of product design, evaluation and specification. Manufacturers need a tool that enables them to efficiently develop product LCAs in-house. And purchasers need a different tool that empowers them to easily access comparable product LCAs online. To meet these needs, the International Design Center for the Environment created the eLCie System™: a fast, flexible and relatively inexpensive way for manufacturers to create "product biographies" and for purchasers to select sustainable products. The eLCie System ™ includes the eLCie Industry Wizard™ for efficient data collection; and the eLCie Web-Tool for product evaluation and selection. The Web-Tool offers product LCA results and a life-cycle costing calculator in easy-to-use formats, downloaded into traditional specification and purchasing documents. The IDCE Corporate Sustainability Rating tool completes this suite of tools, providing purchasers with a footprint of the manufacturers' use of sustainable practices company-wide. If the company achieves the IDCE benchmark, it is awarded IDCE's Certificate of Recognition for being on "the path to sustainability."

At NeoCon® manufacturers that have used the Rating tool and met the benchmark are being featured in the GREENLife exhibit.

With U.S. headquarters in Lawrence, MA, and a market share of more than 50 percent worldwide, nora® rubber flooring is a market leader in commercial rubber flooring.

ENVIRONMENTAL MISSION STATEMENT: Manufactured by Freudenberg Building Systems, Inc., nora rubber flooring offers stylish, durable and environmentally friendly products. nora rubber flooring is made from renewable natural rubber that is extracted from the sap of tropical rubber plants and industrial rubber. It also contains natural fillers, which supplement high-quality natural and industrial rubber qualities, and environmentally compatible color pigments, free of lead and other heavy metals. The durability of rubber gives nora rubber flooring an extremely long life-cycle, reducing the need for frequent removal and disposal of the product and conserving natural resources, both of flooring products and the adhesives required for installation. When it's time to remove a rubber flooring product, it can be recycled or disposed of in a landfill, according to local, state and federal regulations. The absence of polyvinyl chloride ensures no harmful plasticizers, halogens or dioxins seep into ground water. Standard tests for VOC emissions on nora rubber flooring are very good. As a result, the products meet indoor air quality standards (i.e. GREENGUARD Certification, California 01350, State of Washington, LEED Green Label Carpet Requirements) that contribute to the achievement of LEED points. The green advantages of nora rubber flooring enable architects and designers to choose from an extensive product offering of more than 200 colors and designs.
