Haworth Lifespace Walls First Movable Walls To Achieve

July 17, 2006

Holland, MI  (June 20, 2006) - Haworth announced its LifeSPACE walls have achieved SCS (Scientific Certification Systems) Indoor Advantage™ GOLD certification for indoor air quality, joining Haworth's TecCrete and Nexus access floors in achieving one of the highest standards for indoor air quality certification.

"This recognition assures building professionals that using these SCS Indoor Advantage Gold Haworth products can help achieve the most stringent indoor air quality objectives in North America," said Gary Scitthelm, vice president of Architectural Interiors Business Group. "As part of our adaptable workspaces strategy, this certification completes Haworth's package of walls and floors, which are integral in providing high performance workspaces."

Indoor Advantage certification is administered by SCS (Scientific Certification Systems) of Emeryville, CA. The certification relies on data collected through small chamber testing, which allows manufacturers to examine a product's individual components. Indoor Advantage Gold certification conforms to both the California 01350 specification and the Collaborative for High Performance Schools and has the added benefit of being health-driven; based on Chronic Reference Exposure Levels set by the California Office of Environmental Health Hazard Assessment, rather than total Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) and Threshold Limit Values (TLVs).

SCS is an internationally recognized independent certifier of environmental, sustainability and food safety claims. For more than two decades, SCS has developed standards and offered certification programs spanning a wide cross-section of the economy including agricultural production, forestry, fisheries, energy, consumer products, manufacturing and retailing, and the home improvement and construction sectors.

SCS Indoor Advantage GOLD certified LifeSPACE walls are currently offered utilizing Fossil, Stream, Dundee and Rejuvenate wall coverings as well as powdercoat and glass finishes. Wood finishes are not included at this time.

Haworth Inc. is a global leader in the design and manufacture of adaptable workspaces, including raised floors, moveable walls, systems furniture, seating, storage and wood casegoods.  Family-owned and privately held, Haworth is headquartered in Holland, MI, and serves markets in more than 120 countries through a global network of 600 dealers.
