Now in its fourth year, the ARCHI-TECH AV Awards continue to honor outstanding examples of creative and effective integration of cutting-edge technology into otherwise traditional construction projects. ARCHI-TECH magazine partners with InfoComm International® for this prestigious program.
During the nomination period, which ran from September 1, 2005, to February, 24, 2006, 46 entries were submitted from around the world and represented project types including, but not limited to: corporate/office, worship, retail, education, medical/health, entertainment, and museums.
Each of the six judges - two architects, two AV integrators, and two technology consultants - independently evaluated the entries by assigning 1 to 5 points in each of seven criteria: concept, process, scheduling, design, solutions, results, and creativity. On March 31, the judges discussed via conference call each submission and decided award winners. The projects were recognized on June 6 during the AV Awards Banquet, an annual event held during InfoComm’s tradeshow. The winners are:

The following professionals served as judges for this year’s awards program.
Don Archiable brings nearly 25 years of experience in network television facilities, entertainment, communication IT transistion, motion picture, and new advanced technology companies to Archteck Inc., an architecture and engineering design firm where he has held the ownership and principal position for the last 3 years. He is an active member of the Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers and the Amateur Radio Relay League.
Roseanne Bell is vice president of interior design for The Benham Companies. She graduated from Kean University in New Jersey. Her work is known for the creative integration of audiovisual technology into interior space. She is a member of ASID, IFMA, ABPM, and InfoComm, and is an adjunct faculty member of The InfoComm Academy. Recent clients include Verizon, Cisco Systems, Siemens, Symantec, and BEA.
David Goldenberg is vice president of ACE Communications, a Lynbrook, NY-based systems integrator. With more than 15 years of industry experience, he is recognized as a national expert in audio, video, and other uses and applications of technology in the courts and enterprise organizations. Goldenberg has held management positions at AT&T and IBM, where he was involved in the creation of the company’s first global virtual private network.
Joe Levi, AIA, is a principal at OZ Architecture, a Denver-based architecture, interior design, and planning firm. An author of numerous published articles on architectural and construction standards and practices, he is actively involved in the Denver community, serving on committees that contribute to the growth of the design and construction industry. Levi is a graduate of the University of Cincinnati’s School of Architecture.
Brian Pipe is installations manager at Matrix Display Systems Ltd., a large AV company in the U.K. He is chairman of InfoComm’s European Council and serves on the board of directors for a major AV tradeshow in Europe, “Integrated Systems Europe.” With a mechanical engineering degree as a base, Pipe has worked for such well-known U.K. companies as Viewplan, Trilion, Teletape Video (TTV), and ITM.
Tony Warner, CTS-D, CSI CDT, manages the audiovisual design aspect of the Special Systems Design Group (SSDG) for RTKL Associates Inc. Founded in 1946, RTKL is a worldwide planning, architecture, design, and creative services organization. The SSDG provides comprehensive voice, data, audiovisual, acoustics, wiring infrastructure, and security systems technology solutions. Warner maintains an active involvement in both InfoComm and BICSI.
