Product Q & A: Adagiato Chair By Kimball Office

June 1, 2007

NAME
Adagiato

BIRTHPLACE
Jasper, IN

PARENTS
David Allan Pesso and Kimball Office

SIBLINGS
I'm actually from a set of triplets (three back styles), but each of us is quite distinct with our own visual appeal. There's me-the fully exposed wood back; my sister, who has a full-height back cushion; and my brother, who sports a half-height back cushion.

FAVORITE COLORS
Mocha ... it's just yummy!

MEASUREMENTS
A sleekly proportioned 22 inches wide and 31 inches tall.

HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE YOURSELF?
I'm not really comfortable talking about myself. I'd rather people get to know me by sitting in my lap. But my friends tell me that I'm smart, fresh, natural, lighthearted but hardworking, warm and intimate, and enough out of the mainstream to be memorable. A lot of people describe me as timeless, elegant and very comfortable to be around.

WHAT'S YOUR BEST FEATURE?
At the top plane of my shield back, you can see darker staining on the end grain of my internal wood posts. Its beauty and honesty make it my favorite feature.

WHERE DO YOU FEEL MOST AT HOME?
I have a real knack for fitting in. Legal, financial, consultative, hospitality, education, healthcare and recreational environments ... I feel at home pretty much everywhere. Plus, I just love to mingle. From executive suites to corporate cafés, I'm the life of any gathering. No one can resist sitting in me!

GENETIC MAKEUP
I inherited a real love of materials and an intimate understanding of comfort. People who know me say that they see the fine craftsmanship of my father, Kimball Office, in my mixed media composition of wood, metal and upholstery. But they credit the mother of my invention, David Allan Pesso, with my European look and exceptional comfort.

ENVIRONMENTAL FOOTPRINT
I'm GREENGUARDTM-certified for improved indoor air quality.

PROUDEST MOMENT
I'd have to say I'm most proud of winning a Good Design® Award from the Chicago Athenaeum: Museum of Architecture and Design, and being placed into its permanent collection.

WHAT MAKES YOU SPECIAL?
I think people buy and love me because I'm not just a pretty face. The textural contrast of my tubular steel chassis, richly finished wood back, and soft upholstery is simply irresistible. But it's my double dose of ergonomic functionality that keeps folks coming back for more.
