ARCHI-TECH AV Awards e-Lunch and Learn webinar series

Register for the ARCHI-TECH AV Awards e-Lunch and Learn webinar series, produced in partnership with InfoComm International. Each webinar will feature the 2007 AV Award winners from the InfoComm International Trade Show. Learn firsthand how the AV design and technology challenges were met, from the people who met them in these “best-practice” case studies. Architects can earn one AIA credit by attending, and InfoComm International Members can earn one RU credit.

Each webinar is 60 minutes long and takes place at 12:00 p.m. Central time
(1 p.m. Eastern, 11 a.m. Mountain, and 10 a.m. Pacific).

Library Makes Herculean Statement
The Hercules Public Library makes a dynamic statement within its small California community through a design that nods to the past and looks to the future. A dramatic wall of glass juts out from the dark brick cube structure that references the California Powder Works building, which produced the Hercules brand of dynamite for which the city is named. Sustainable components include solar glazing, a “cool” roof, 100-percent recyclable carpet tile, and bioswales.

Outdoor Clothier Test Drives LEED Pilot Program
Since the late 1990s, outdoor footwear and clothing company Timberland has been incorporating green principles into its stores. The company’s newest retail outpost in Massachusetts is no exception. Part of a LEED pilot certification program for retailers, it includes, among many sustainable features, VOC-free wall paint and sealants, energy-efficient lighting, and an HVAC system without CFC-based refrigerants.

Courthouse Sentenced to Life as High School
A 1951 Brooklyn, NY, court building will be reconfigured into a flexible multipurpose space for two 500-seat high schools. The steel-framed, long-span joist structure will be separated from its existing roof by an interstitial space, which will allow for efficient MEP distribution and optimal noise isolation, while the deteriorated limestone exterior will be over-clad with an innovative thin-stone façade system.
