New York, NY (July 25, 2007) - Architecture/interior design firm Tobin+Parnes Design Enterprises announced today the completion of its latest architecture and design project -- the new headquarters of Oregon-based investment company Mazama Capital Management, at New York City's Landmark Seagram Building.
Inspired by the company's origins in Oregon and their desire for a sophisticated and serene corporate environment, Tobin+Parnes utilized natural woods, organic textures, rich materials, and a warm color palette.
"Tobin+Parnes' design approach respects and preserves the historic integrity of the Seagram Building, an icon of midcentury modern architecture, says Tobin+Parnes' Principal Carol Tobin. "The newly designed interiors reinforce the original design intent of the building by emphasizing the functionalist aesthetic, the open plan, natural light, clean lines, and richness of material."
The project offered Tobin+Parnes' designers an opportunity to create a modern atmosphere in an office that functions efficiently and provides Mazama's New York team with an energetic and human environment. By layering new and unique materials, such as textural cast plaster panels and translucent and patterned acrylic dividing screens, the design reverberates the clients' heritage and philosophy - rendered with an exquisite sense of proportion and detail. Due to strict landmark preservation guidelines, the design team was faced with the challenge of incorporating the original 1956 illuminated ceiling into Mazama's contemporary vision. The end result successfully blended the historic with the new and created a visual pairing of the space from ceiling to floor.
