Chicago Architects Named AIA Fellows

Sept. 1, 2007

Two Chicago architects were recently recognized with one of the highest honors that the architecture profession bestows on its members: Thomas Kerwin and Frank Christopher Lee were admitted to the College of Fellows of the American Institute of Architects (AIA). Kerwin is a managing partner at the Chicago offices of Skidmore Owings & Merrill. He has played a key role on the team that recently helped Chicago edge out Los Angeles to become the
U.S. candidate for the 2016 Summer Olympics.

Lee is a principal with the Chicago-based firm of Johnson & Lee, Ltd. Throughout his career, he has focused on projects that elevate design standards in Chicago's African American low-income and minority neighborhoods. Of the more than 81,000 AIA members nationwide, only about 3 percent have been elevated to the College of Fellows.
