Creating a Legacy Of Design

Sept. 17, 2007

Dallas - ASID Practitioners, Industry Partners, Students, and design lovers alike recently rewarded themselves to a congratulatory evening. Taking pleasure in the whimsical, stimulating venue of 7Senses in the Dallas Design District, they enthusiastically celebrated the winners of the Legacy of Design Awards, the annual competition recognizing the finest interior design achievements within the ASID Texas Chapter.

Party-goers applauded members' achievements, thanked them for their support, and-of course-enjoyed the opportunity to socialize with peers. Building upon last year's well-received, more relaxed format, the event was the ideal reward after two busy days of industry focus at METROCON07 Expo & Conference-the 400-plus booth / 220-plus vendor tradeshow exclusively for interior designers, facility managers, architects, design students, and other design industry members.

This year's competition attracted a record number of entries. To alleviate feelings of intimidation, the Chapter again offered its Rising Stars division: 14 categories open only to designers who have practiced design for 10 years or less. Designers meeting the Rising Stars eligibility had the choice of entering either this section or the Design Mavens division: 22 categories open to all designers regardless of length of practice. ASID designers from all across the Texas Chapter's region-which includes Abilene, Amarillo, Austin, Corpus Christi, Dallas, El Paso, Fort Worth, Lubbock, Midland/Odessa, and San Antonio-were eligible to participate. During the event, winners were identifiable by the elegant awards worn around their necks, and a continuous loop of images of the winning entries was featured, allowing guests to admire their colleagues' projects throughout the evening.

The ASID Texas Chapter whole-heartedly congratulates the winners. A listing of winners and their work have been published in a special supplement to the Fall 2007 editions of LUXE Texas, LUXE Dallas/Fort Worth & LUXE Austin/San Antonio magazines. Winners will also be honored by having photos of their projects appear on the home page of both ASID Texas Chapter Web sites: www.asidtx.org and its public counterpart, www.texas-designers.com. Currently, a listing of the winners and sponsors are also available on the Legacy of Design page of www.asidtx.org. Some of the winners included:
