The OEM was destroyed on 9/11. One of the challenges in building a new facility, housing high-tech systems integral to managing NYC's emergency operations, was to provide systems in which information from thousands of sources could easily be accessed and displayed. Among the multiple technologies employed were rear-projection units operating as a unified display surface, plasma screens, audio coverage, a sophisticated control system, and a video wall.
