Museum Connects Campus, Community
The new Nerman Museum of Contemporary Art in Overland Park, KS, is more than a repository for art: It is an artistic journey. The limestone-clad and glass-enclosed modern structure, built on the Johnson County Community College campus, connects to the surrounding community through a welcoming design punctuated by a dramatic 22-foot cantilever. School Takes Cue from Famed Lounge
The historic Ambassador Hotel is the backdrop for the Los Angeles Unified School District’s first K-12 school campus. Heritage School’s high school auditorium will be built where the hotel’s nightclub, the Coconut Grove, was and incorporate design elements from the famed lounge. Other campus buildings will include modern touches such as thermal-displacement ventilation.
