Skyline Bling Illuminates Curiosity
The giant, white-lighted squares at One Arts Plaza have Dallas residents scratching their heads. The fixtures reflect a recent trend of tricking out downtown Dallas buildings with unabashed, eye-catching lights. The recently opened W Hotel makes a statement with its lighted rooftop, midbuilding open terrace, and glass-bottom balcony; LED tubing atop the renovated Mercantile building will indicate current weather conditions.

The development of a new zero-energy office (ZEO) building in Bandar Baru Bangi, Selangor, Malaysia, marks a milestone toward the adoption of sustainable building in the country. Electricity will be generated by photovoltaic panels and double-pane spectrally selective glazing filters allow only “cool” visible light inside.
