ATLANTA & CHICAGO - Thompson, Ventulett, Stainback, and Associates (TVS) and TVS Interiors are pleased to be the recipients of the 2008 HotelWorld Global Hospitality & Design Award in the "Best Lobby/Public Space - Full Service" category for the renovation of the Hyatt O'Hare. The awards, which honor outstanding properties, companies and individuals, were part of the HotelWorld Expo & Conference held in Las Vegas last month.
"We are extremely pleased to be chosen for this great honor," says Foreman Rogers, Senior Associate, TVS Interiors. "The Hyatt O'Hare renovation has been a very rewarding project thanks to the great collaboration we share with the client and the positive feedback we continue to receive from the end result. Restoring such an iconic property was truly a privilege and it would not have been possible without the talent of our team and the support of Hyatt."
Phase I of the $60 million renovation of the Hyatt Regency O'Hare was completed in May of 2007. The progressive design has reenergized the property by introducing vibrant elements into the iconic atrium space while expanding the hotel's conference and meeting facilities. Highlights of the renovation begin with the new arrival court with glass canopy, windows peering into the bar, and new landscaping design. A monumental glass staircase greets the guest and brings them into the heart of the atrium. In this space guests can register amongst the stone flooring and backlit onyx wall or simply relax from their travels at the new lobby bar. What was once simply a passageway, the atrium now features fixed seating areas offering respite or a place to gather and socialize. At the heart of the atrium is an imported custom blown glass chandelier and cutting edge elevator cabs.
The property's competitiveness is also increased by providing clusters of meeting spaces and additional revenue producing venues including the O'H American Grill and Red Bar. A new, two-level Hub Conference Center now accommodates intimate high-end meetings and large-scale events in a high-tech setting. The Hub also features a lounge area located beneath a beautiful stack stone wall. Similar finishes and materials can be found throughout the hotel helping to orient the guests and bring cohesiveness to the property.
