ECORE International Publishes New ECOsurfaces LEED Guide

March 18, 2008

LANCASTER, PA - ECORE International, the manufacturer of ECOsurfaces commercial flooring, has introduced a new guide that explains how ECOsurfaces products can contribute to obtaining Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED®) credits-a design guideline and certification tool for architects and designers seeking to develop high-performance, sustainable buildings. The instructional 12-page booklet, ECOsurfaces Commercial Flooring & LEED, describes how the product line meets stringent criteria required to earn points under two of the six LEED categories.

As an active member of the U.S. Green Building Council and other environmentally focused organizations, ECORE has made the green building movement a top priority.  The new guide was published to make it easier for specifiers to understand the LEED credit areas impacted by flooring, and how ECOsurfaces in particular can contribute to attaining points on building projects.

The guide contains a brief overview that describes the LEED Rating System. Chapters include clear and concise definitions of LEED for New Construction (LEED-NC) categories and credits and how ECOsurfaces products can contribute to earning credits.  Each chapter also includes helpful potential strategies for achieving project goals. The guide provides a short explanation that clarifies the differences between LEED-NC, LEED-CI and LEED-EB, two additional LEED rating systems. The guide concludes with a brief explanation about the environmental attributes of ECOsurfaces commercial products and ECORE's commitment to environmental initiatives.

ECOsurfaces Commercial Flooring & LEED is available as a downloadable PDF at www.ecosurfaces.com. It is also available in hard copy by contacting ECORE at (877) 326-7873.
