Fifth Annual "Design Excellence Awards" Solicits Call for Entries

April 29, 2008

CHICAGO - The American Society of Interior Designers-Illinois Chapter (ASID-IL) is now accepting entries for the 2008 Design Excellence Awards, an annual competition open to ASID-IL members, International Interior Design Association-Illinois members (IIDA-IL), and registered interior designers in the state of Illinois. Presented by ASID-IL and publishing partner i4design magazine, the deadline to submit entries for the fifth annual Design Excellence Awards is Friday, July 11, 2008.

"This prestigious competition presents a great chance for novice, experienced and veteran designers to showcase their projects and be recognized by their peers," explains James Landa, 2007-08 ASID-IL chapter president. "Interior designers throughout Illinois continue to astonish judges with their outstanding submissions due to their vision, creative solutions and mutual respect for the environment and their clients' needs."

Entry forms for the competition can be easily downloaded by visiting the ASID Illinois Web site. Designers are welcome to submit their entries in 23 residential, contract and product design categories, including: green design, universal design, singular residential space, kitchen, bath, showcase room, tile design, corporate offices, retail, hospitality, healthcare institutional, furnishings and fixtures.

A panel of distinguished interior design professionals from out of state will review the entries and select category winners on the basis of lighting, scale and proportion, color and composition, design creativity, function, solutions appropriate to the design criteria, materials and patterns. All entries will be judged by the highest standards of the profession.

All winning entries will be published in a private-label magazine that will be mailed to ASID and IIDA members after the fall "Celebration of Design Gala," which will be held in September (exact date of the Gala will be announced in the weeks ahead). This ASID magazine is distributed throughout the year at special events held by the ASID Illinois Chapter. Additionally, select first-place winners will be published in the October Design Awards Issue of i4design magazine. The call for entries for this competition was sponsored by Oscar Isberian Rugs.
