Davis’ Executive Chairs Pass Emission Testing

Aug. 12, 2008

HIGH POINT, NC - Davis Furniture, a family owned and operated manufacturer of contemporary office furniture, recently announced that all its executive chairs passed emissions testing from Scientific Certification Systems (SCS).

Specifically, Davis Furniture announced the completion of testing for Indoor Air Quality Certification on their current executive seating: Motion, Webb, Body, Lucid, and its new series Fenix. SCS, an independent, third-party certification lab, completed the testing for this certification. All of these products meet all necessary qualifications to be certified for Indoor Advantage™, Indoor Air Quality Certified, and conforms to the ANSI/BIFMA Furniture Emissions Standards for open plan and private office.

In addition to the Indoor Advantage Certification, the Fenix, Body and Lucid Chair Series have been awarded the Indoor Advantage™ Gold, Indoor Air Quality Certified, and conform to the ANSI/BIFMA Furniture Emissions Standards for open plan and private office and CA section 01350 specifications. This additional certification covers the California special requirements for Formaldehyde Emissions as covered by CA Section 01350.

Goals for the Future: BIFMA SAS Program
The certification of the executive chairs is the first step in documenting Davis' sustainable efforts. Since early 2008, Davis Furniture implemented procedures, research, and organizing committees to initiate submitting product through the BIFMA SAS Program. This program focuses on a single product, but also analyzes every facility that it is produced in at Davis. It also has corporate requirements in meeting energy, chemical and social responsibilities.
