Indiana Furniture is gaining broad recognition for the environmental benefits of its ultraviolet finish. Most recently, a number of products received GREENGUARD Certification—a coveted third-party certification for products that safeguard indoor air quality.
The certification—which extends to products in the company's Promise, Centennial, Revolutions, and Madera desk and casegoods lines—means the products meet the independent GREENGUARD Environmental Institute's high standards for indoor air quality—the most stringent standards in the global market. They also meet BIFMA standards for low-emitting office furniture systems and earn points for LEED® Credit 4.5.
Once cured by UV light, the finish won't emit toxins, formaldehyde, or solvents into the air—creating a cleaner, healthier environment for those working with the finish and those working in environments where it's specified.

Indiana Furniture is one of the first to use a GREENGUARD-certified finish on all exposed surfaces, not just the top surface, and to offer the finish standard on hundreds of desking and casegoods products.

Beyond earth-friendly, adds Slayton, the UV Advantage finish is earning kudos for durability—earning an outstanding five out of five rating in durability testing (most topcoat finishes rank three or less). It's extremely hard—practically impervious to scratches, water stains, and most chemicals. And the finish won't darken or yellow with age.
Attaining GREENGUARD Certification on products in its standard line is part of Indiana Furniture's ongoing effort to make it easy and affordable to specify on LEED projects.
With the certification in place, the company will expand its offering of the environmentally safe finish to further product lines. "We want to make it simple and affordable to specify products that contribute to creating more healthful places for people to work," concludes Slayton.
