Teknion to Partner with Green Solutions

Sept. 29, 2008

TORONTO - Teknion Corporation recently announced that it has become the first contract furniture manufacturer to partner with Green Solutions North America Inc. Green Solutions is unique in that its Revive program connects corporations and their redundant assets with organizations in need—including nonprofits, schools and healthcare facilities—around the world.

"We are thrilled that Teknion is demonstrating its support for Green Solutions and all that we do by leading the way and becoming the first contract furniture manufacturer to partner with us," says Jim Reid, chief executive of Green Solutions. "The reputation and reach of Teknion will enable us to accelerate the impact the Green Solutions Charitable Foundation has locally, nationally and internationally on the lives of those less fortunate and the environment at large."

"We see our partnership with Green Solutions as another small step in our continuing goal to reduce environmental impacts," says Scott Deugo, Teknion's senior VP of Design, Marketing and Sustainable Development. "Extending the life-cycle of products by finding good homes for assets that Teknion and our customers no longer require not only diverts waste from landfill, it helps all involved act in a more responsible manner. Our partnership with Green Solutions also opens the door for our customers seeking to dispose furniture and office equipment they no longer require in a corporately responsible manner."

Green Solutions' Revive program focuses on such assets as office furniture and IT equipment no longer needed by a corporation. All assets are accepted. Green Solutions provides a simple, turnkey and cost-effective way for corporations to repurpose equipment they no longer require. The entire divestiture process is managed and implemented by Green Solutions, thereby minimizing demand on corporate management and staff. The entire process—from evaluating, identifying and inventorying, to transferring and redistributing assets—is fully recorded and tracked for all parties to observe with full transparency. At the end of the process, the client receives a tax receipt for the cost of its assets plus a detailed description of the method of disposal. Any assets not redistributed are broken down into specific raw materials for recycling.
