Historic Federal Building Wins LEED-CI
Built in 1911 for Rand McNally, the Chicago Federal Building underwent a $67 million renovation that included a host of sustainable features. The project team evaluated all energy-efficiency measures on a whole-building energy simulation. Measures include underfloor air distribution, air-to-air total energy recovery, reconfiguration of the chilled water system into a true primary-secondary pumping system, and high-efficiency pump motors and variable frequency drives.
