Nov. 4, 2008

CALHOUN, GA - The Georgia Department of Natural Resources has named Mannington Commercial a Gold Level Partner in its Partnership for a Sustainable Georgia Program.

The state's initiative not only recognizes businesses with outstanding environmental practices, but it also brings them together to develop additional corporate sustainability efforts. Mannington Commercial is one of only 14 companies to be named a Gold Level Partner, a designation reserved for those whose environmental programs integrate robust pollution prevention efforts and community outreach, while demonstrating continual improvement.

"Mannington Commercial has a longstanding commitment to sustainable practices—it's truly part of our everyday corporate culture," says Jack Ganley, president of Mannington Commercial. "We are honored to be a part of this elite group of Georgia businesses that are setting the example for environmental excellence and corporate responsibility."

Mannington Commercial not only strives for the most environmentally responsible production standards with its ISO 14001-certified manufacturing facility, but it also diverts carpet waste streams from landfills with its LOOP reclamation program. In addition, Mannington Commercial is the only manufacturer that takes post-consumer drywall and reformulates it into a carpet product.

"Partners such as Mannington Commercial lead the way in implementing sound environmental practices, while recognizing that what's good for the environment can also be good for the bottom line," notes Suzanne Burnes, assistant director of P²AD (Georgia's Pollution Prevention Assistance Division) and manager of the Partnership for a Sustainable Georgia. "The strong response from the community underscores the value of performance-based programs such as ours."

Mannington Commercial has distinguished itself as one of North America's premier manufacturers of high quality floor covering designs encompassing both soft and hard surfaces. Its deep range of choices in both categories is unparalleled. A leading voice in sustainability, the company is relentless in pursuing innovative measures to improve closing the recycling loop-reducing the waste streams from the manufacturing process while reusing waste materials.
