Wall Covering Reclamation Program Announced

Jan. 6, 2009

FAIRLAWN, OHIO - OMNOVA Solutions recently introduced its Commercial Wallcovering Reclamation Program, which is designed to divert used wall covering from landfills and incorporate it into the production of new building products.

Effective immediately, OMNOVA Solutions is accepting post-use fabric backed vinyl wall coverings, regardless of the original manufacturer. OMNOVA will recycle the vinyl back into new wall coverings that feature RECORE™ recycled wall technology and into other products for the design and construction industry. In addition to vinyl, OMNOVA's reclamation program will accept non-PVC commercial wall coverings which feature ECORE™ Advanced Wall Technology.

The process is easy. When building owners, architects or designers select new wall coverings from OMNOVA Solutions, including wall coverings from its well-known Avant, Bolta, Essex, Genon, Scion, and Tower brands, they can turn in wall coverings that have been removed, as well as construction scrap, to OMNOVA's Wallcovering Reclamation Program. Working through OMNOVA's network of wall covering distribution partners, architects and designers can use the program to earn valuable Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED®) credits for renovation and construction projects by diverting construction waste from the waste stream.

As the largest manufacturer of contract wall coverings, and a global supplier to the interiors industry, OMNOVA Solutions is committed to reducing the environmental impact of its operations and products. OMNOVA's emphasis on developing environmentally-focused products and services is demonstrated through the new Wallcovering Reclamation Program, as well as product technologies such as RECORE, which features 30 percent recycled content, and ECORE, a "no compromise" PVC alternative technology introduced in 2007 through OMNOVA's AVANT and Scion wall covering brands. OMNOVA's commitment to environmentally responsible practices in the manufacturing of commercial wall coverings includes the use of water-based inks, scrap reduction and recycling programs, and reductions in the energy required for production.
