Kimball Office Launches Design Competition

Jan. 13, 2009

JASPER, IN - Kimball Office, a leading office furniture manufacturer, is holding a design competition to create the next See Me screen for its award-winning new office system, Hum. Minds at Work™.

The competition is open to everyone everywhere. Entries are due February 28, 2009.

The winner will receive $5,000 and an expense paid trip to Chicago during the week of NeoCon, June 15-17, 2009. In addition, the winning design may be displayed in Kimball Office's Chicago showroom during that same week.

Hum. Minds at Work is office furniture that fits people's minds as well as their bodies. It is based on the premise that nothing is more important than the way people think and work together.

Hum uses four core components to facilitate easy shifts between individual and group work. The most visually compelling of these is the See Me screen, which uses an openwork pattern to filter distractions without isolation, ensuring timely and appropriate interactions between teammates.

Among the elements contestants should consider in their design are the screen's five basic parts: the immediate periphery, the transition area, the lower screen, the sweet spot, and the base.
