Mini-Masters at The Mart

Jan. 13, 2009

CHICAGO - The sixth annual "Miniature Masters at The Mart" takes place Thursday, Feb. 12, 2009, at Chicago's Merchandise Mart and benefits the Illinois Interior Design Coalition (IIDC). IIDC is a not-for-profit legislative association that continues to protect the right to practice interior design in the state of Illinois. Membership activities are supported solely by individual and corporate contributions. More than 400 people are expected to attend the evening event.

"Last year's Mini-Masters had a stand-out turnout and brought in a record amount for IIDC. Our goal is to increase awareness of the value of IIDC and to reinforce that registered interior design professionals protect the health, safety, and welfare of the public," says Jessica Henn, 2008-2010 ASID-IL director for legislation and ethics and chair of the Mini-Masters event. "With 18 holes of mini-golf in the Mart showrooms, a festive party and mingling with top interior designers in Chicago, this event is not to be missed."

The evening event includes teams of "golphing" foursomes (with prizes going to the best-dressed foursome team and best design of golph hole), live music, food, drinks, a silent auction (new this year) and a "19th Hole After-Party" to celebrate Illinois interior design professionals. The event mascot—the dancing gopher—is awarded to the best-dressed foursome team and a variety of the best-designed golph holes, including the People's Choice Award. Teams are made up of interior designers, their clients, brokers, contractors, vendors, dealers, students, and other industry-related professionals.

Planned by the American Society of Interior Designers-Illinois Chapter (ASID-IL) and the International Interior Design Association-Illinois Chapter (IIDA-IL), Mini-Masters includes 18 contract showroom-sponsored "golph" holes across three floors of The Merchandise Mart, and three showroom-sponsored watering holes to rest, refresh and mingle. These 18 holes are designed by Illinois' top interior design firms, contract firms, vendors and students in a team effort.
