Multi-Purpose Chairs Pass Emission Testing

Feb. 23, 2009

HIGH POINT, NC – Davis Furniture, a family-owned and operated manufacturer of contemporary office furniture, recently announced that its multi-purpose chairs have passed BIFMA emissions testing from SCS.

Indoor Advantage™ … Eight Multi-Purpose Series

Davis Furniture’s Ch@t, Kirkos, Lipse, Loop, Milano, Nyo, Orta, and Zeno completed testing for indoor air quality certification. The independent lab, Scientific Certification Systems (SCS), completed the testing for this certification. All of these products meet all necessary qualifications to be certified for Indoor Advantage™ Gold, Indoor Air Quality Certified, and conforms to the ANSI/BIFMA Furniture Emissions Standards for open plan and private office and CA 01350 specifications. This Gold certification covers the California special requirements for formaldehyde emissions as covered by CA Section 01350.

Sustainable Goals for the Future … BIFMA SAS Program

The certification of executive and multi-purpose chairs is the first step in documenting Davis’ sustainable efforts. Since early 2008, Davis Furniture implemented procedures, research, and organizing committees to initiate submitting product through the BIFMA SAS Program. This program focuses on a single product, but also analyzes every facility that it is produced in at Davis. It also has corporate requirements in meeting energy, chemical, and social responsibilities.

“As we have approached this internal examination, we have found that we have already achieved in our general corporate practices many sustainable and environmental goals necessary for this program,” states Ashley Williams, Davis’ committee head for SAS.  “This process will prove to be beneficial for our customers, but will make Davis a better steward of the environment, which should be the goal of every manufacturer.”
